The Safety Specialist must be enthusiastic and dedicated to a “Safety First Mindset” and embrace a culture of safety as a way of life. The Safety Specialist will have complete understanding and application of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices and standards. This position shall be responsible for administrative and technical work in the planning, development and implementation of training programs for Woodson Incorporated.
Drive the Safety Program to Target Zero incidents.
Develops plans, organizes and manages the Safety Program.
Interacts with Project Managers, subcontractors, clients and client representatives.
Monitors the Safety Program to ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, client policies and Woodson, Inc SOP's.
Provides ongoing communication to management concerning assessment of the Safety Program performance and recommended proactive and or corrective actions and responsible for enforcing those same actions.
Responsible for developing all safety training and proper documentation of training records.
Establish and review existing training manuals; recommend changes; rewrite, revise or develop new training or safety materials per State, Federal, ANSI, DOT, NIOSH, OSHA, and MUTCD guidelines as necessary.
Conduct new employee, extra hire and seasonal hire training and safety orientation.
Investigate accidents, investigating preventative measures and developing Safety Program revisions as necessary.
Responsible for educating all employees, contractor/subcontractor on the Safety Program policies and/or revisions and updates, including proper documentation of such.
Inspects job sites and prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective actions to involve Basic Machine Maintenance (BMM) plan, brief, execute, and debrief reviews and implementation of all SOP’s and initiatives.
Conduct safety audits and coaching cards.
Maintain company and client regulations, policies, and procedures.
Perform Root Cause Analysis.
Manage Field Safety Inspectors.

Max floor to waist lift – 75lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 75 lbs from the floor to the waist.)
Above shoulder lift – 40lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 40 lbs from the floor to above the shoulders)
Background in DOT safety and training regulations and requirements
Utility right-of-way, forestry or logging experience is a plus
Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Public speaking motivational ability
Valid state driver's license is required. A First Aid Card and CPR certification, COSS certification, Power Safe and 30 hour OSHA are required within 60 days of employment.
