Woodson Incorporated has a current opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with Civil Construction Experience. Woodson, Inc is a growing regional services company with operations based out of Little Rock, AR, Monroe, LA and Plaquemine, LA (Baton Rouge.)  The Woodson, Inc service portfolio includes a core business of utility, forestry and land clearing and is experiencing strong growth in the Civil land work market, where your demonstrated knowledge is needed.  The right candidate will be part of a growing and collaborative team that builds rewarding career opportunities. 

The successful candidate for the open Project Manager position will have experience in general civil site development.  Typical project focus includes but, is not limited to green field earth work, drainage and utilities site work and development.

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for completing accurate take offs and bidding civil projects.  The PM will develop project plans, milestones and schedules to meet the milestones.  The PM is accountable for projects being completed on time and within budget.  The PM will have field based over-site of the day-to day operation through the direct supervision of an onsite Superintendent.

Position Requirements:

  • Prepare complete cost estimates for site work project bids and jobs
  • Perform field take offs/evaluations for estimate preparation
  • Perform material take offs
  • Develop trade list and sub-contractor solicitation list
  • Establish a construction schedule to develop manpower for estimate including milestones, shutdowns, etc.
  • Evaluation of vendor and subcontractor bids to Woodson Inc
  • Understand and monitor program of work for adherence to schedule
  • Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine constructability requirements
  • Understand and evaluate job related documentation
  • Oversee field work to ensure proper installation of fill, drainage, and other work scopes to assure on spec work
  • Provide adequate site presence during construction to maintain work quality
  • Use Lasers and GPS for developing grades
  • Participate in estimate review process with internal and external customers
  • Assist construction personnel throughout the project life-cycle in tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of change orders
  • Post job completion analysis

Qualifications for Program Manager:

  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Minimum 5 years experiences civil construction experience. 
  • Degree in Construction Management
  • Degree in Civil Engineering considered a plus. 
  • Experience with projects in both public and private sector work
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Heavy civil background including earthwork, underground utility, and structural concrete
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at conflict management, good interpersonal skills
  • Strong plan comprehension & analytical capabilities
  • Competent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite programs; ability to access and input required report data in various business enterprise systems
  • Experience using both manual take off methods and electronic take off tools
  • Ability to read and analyze construction plans and specifications.

Travel: Up to 70%
